Crazy things Sighted people say

Over the weekend I went and got my haircut. It was getting long. I go to Great Clips nothing fancy, but it works. I of course got someone new, because I rarely get the same person twice. I said can you thin my hair a bit? She says yeah I can thin it in the places you still have hair. Lol it made me so nervous   of how I actually look. I kept running my hands threw my hair the rest of the day assessing things. I can only speak for me, but never being able to see myself I rarely sit around and wonder how I look to others. I don’t know why, but this thought never comes to me until some sighted person makes a offhanded comment about something.

Abby and I are getting ready to travel to LA. I am checking in to visiting a wax museum for some reason. I asked if we can touch and I’ve been told no. So that shit is off what fun is it to stand around and hear about how realistic wax figures are? I won’t lie I sort of wanted to see how realistic a wax boob felt. Okay lets move on now.

I have been watching a lot of softball lately. It sort of amazes me how little respect women sports get. Baseball for me has meant so much in my life. Last year my friend Denny died and I pushed the game away it’s how I cope with loss. Of course in the winter we found out about the cheating Houston did, and it honestly disappoints me. Your getting paid millions, and yet you can’t just play the game? I’m watching these girls give everything there not going to make millions Tomorrow playing the game they love, and maybe that’s why I’m drawn to it. Eventually once they’re seniors the game will end, and they won’t have softball. I know they have some professional leagues, but no one really profits from them.

Anyway I will be taking a bit of time to put together my baseball rankings. Denny and I would do it every year, so I thought I would continue the tradition here. We’d stay up all night talking about where we thought teams would end up and just have a great time. If we weren’t together we’d talk on the phone for hours writing down each others picks. John Sterling of the Yankees thinks it is dumb to do this, but I disagree sorry John. I missed doing it last year I just couldn’t bring myself to think about it. However this year I’m going to try. So no new blogs for a bit while I compile thoughts.

This weekend my beloved NRL in Australia starts back up, so were really heading in to a great time. Also really exhausting for me, because I will wake up at 3 to catch a game.

Abby and I are going to go swim with dolphins finally. It’s something I’ve wanted to do for a long time, and in October were making it happen. You can pay $180 for a VIP 120 for just swimming and for some reason 80 for the same thing. My question is the $80 I wonder if they use the shitty dolphins. Like this one hurt someone that one ate someone I just don’t quite get the difference in pricing.

Alright unless someone points out another flaw of mine I plan to get my baseball blog in right before the season starts, and then were back to normal. Were off to LA and hoping not to catch the virus.

  1. Joe, I am thrilled that you love softball—me, too! Back in my day, girls had no opportunity to play high school sports. Finally, track was offered in the 70’s, then volleyball. In 1977, I was coach of our school’s first softball team— and coached for 25 years . ( Had a pretty good lifetime record, due to some amazingly talented athletes with incredible work ethic— good enough that I was inducted into IHSA Coaches’Hall of Fame ). Both of my daughters played for me; until recently, Becky had 2 records— most home runs in a season and most in a game. And this moment, UPS has on a truck, a shipment containing 2 softball gloves, 2 softballs, an infield mask, all child size… as my great granddaughters are introduced to softball and the Peewee League! Side note— I totally agree on the Astros critique. If you’re a pro, making astronomical salary, work hard, figure out the game and win it honestly!!! Love ya

    1. That is really cool about you being in the Hall of Fame I never knew that I do think you mentioned that you coached but that is awesome what accomplishment! Are you going to help coach your great granddaughters? I really hope one day women’s sports get the respect they deserve. I think we’re getting closer and some respect but in ways it’s the same old same old.
